Start into a digital business model

Trivadis has accompanied Belimed AG since the start of the “Smart Connectivity” programme, Today, the data specialist is even a strategic partner of the medtech company. For the new business model of Belimed AG, Trivadis 2020 has also developed a SmartHub as a connection to all Belimed medical devices. The SmartHub connects and monitors the systems of the sterilisers, washers and endoscopy, which take care of the communication between the machines and the end system. The first version of the Azure-based central portal (including all processes and collaborations) will be completed before the end of this year and will form the basis for supporting the new business model.

The SmartHub was the first step of Belimed’s vision, which Trivadis has implemented. Over the next two years, a cloud application will enable customers to remotely monitor and maintain their machines in real time, troubleshoot and constantly optimise their sterile processes. Provided that customers use the cloud. A big plus of the Belimed service is that all devices can be connected without extensive training and in less than an hour. This points the way for the migration of more machines. Belimed’s goal is to become a leader in the digital Central Sterile Service Department (CSSD) by 2025 through intelligent, custo- mer-focused data use. The CSSD is an internal or external service provider of one or even several hospitals. Its task is the cleaning, disinfection, care, sorting and provision of medical devices, for example surgical instruments.

The entire project is carried out in an agile manner according to SAFe (Scaled Agile Frame- work®) with Program Increment Planning (PI). The SAFe® combines approaches from the agile methods Scrum, Kanban and Extreme Programming with Lean Thinking. Iterations between PI Plannings are conducted according to Scrum with Daily Scrum Meetings, bi-weekly Refinement Meetings, Sprint Plannings and Reviews, and Retrospective Meetings. The PI Plannings take place every 16 weeks.
