In early 2001, Meinrad Weiss, Senior Consultant, was appointed MSDN Regional Director.

In this function, he is one of about 140 Regional Managers worldwide who act as a link between the local developer community and Microsoft (local here refers to a whole country).

A Regional Manager acts as a critical market observer, for both technology and marketing. The feedback of the Regional Managers strongly influences Microsoft's development strategies.
